What needs refilling?
Dear Starlight,
Last year around this time, I began shaping my 2025 Fulfillment Calendar. I imagined each month as a vessel—something I would consciously fill with qualities of my being I wanted to attend too—to become more of or more aware of. I chose my words and crafted an affirmative statement from their definitions.
Careful: Act with consideration, out of kindness
Heartful: Engage with love & genuine presence
Hopeful: Believe good things are possible and likely
Fanciful: Show flair & dream beyond limitation
Beautiful: Inspire admiration, evoke delight & pleasure
Colorful: Be rich, vibrant, lively & bold
Joyful: Uplift and express jubilee, feel heavenly
Powerful: Affect change
Skillful: Approach challenges with wisdom & efficiency
Wonderful: Be amazed and amazing
Thoughtful: Understand more
Grateful: Recognize & appreciate what you value—including yourself
There’s something I love about the simplicity of adding “-ful” to a word—how it signals being full of that quality: he was hateful, he was joyful. A spectrum of what we choose to hold; consciously or unconsciously.
As I close November (Thoughtful) and enter December (Grateful), I’m beginning to reflect on the movement of 2025—how these qualities lived in me. I’m using this calendar to notice the ways I embodied these monthly intentions—or didn’t—with gratitude for the fullness of my lived experience; and this year was FULL of surprises—choppy seas and big waves along new horizons.
It is exciting to look back, at the map of a year charted initially by this calendar.
Side note: One of my goals for 2025 was to update my personal website. Beginning that goal in January set me off on a wild adventure of personal discovery and reclamation. The website draft is still drafting in the winds—possibly ready by winter solstice—and reading this list makes me think it’s a good mood board for the site. I’m particularly drawn to Fanciful :)
