• Saint John’s Wort Oil cures everything–rub it on bites, bumps, and bruises

• A lime peel and bay leaf boiled down until the liquid is almost brown takes care of all tummy aches

• Always wear a hat in the sun

• Don’t go in the water for an hour after eating

• Light a candle in church for ancestors and loved ones

• Being feminine is not a folly

• Being kind is always the way to be

• Black lace, leather, leopard, fur, gold, red lipstick, and perfume will always be in in style

• Get your hair done often

• Take naps without clothes on

• Put dirty dishes in soapy bowls of water

• Even iron the underwear

• Carry forward traditional foods and traditional ways

• Spend your time and your money on what you want when you are alive

• Small sips of red wine with everything

• Fried fish whenever you can get it fresh

• House shoes on or get out

• Carry your body with pride whatever shape it’s in

• Play cards with coins to win a little something

• Keep containers to hold something else

• Pray to who answers

• Dress up when you go outside

• Wear a house dress inside

• Close the shutters when you sleep

• Dry your tomatoes on the roof

• Hold your children's hand for as long they ask you to

• Make things special

• Keep things simple

• Stay committed to who you love

• Share food as love

• Wear black in mourning
